PTE (Pearson Test of English)

The Pearson Test of English (Academic), commonly known as PTE, assesses the English language proficiency of individuals for whom English is not the primary language. It evaluates fluency and comprehensive understanding of English, especially in an academic context. The PTE tests all critical domains: Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening.

Level Description
Above 85 Understands virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from multiple sources coherently and express spontaneously, fluently, and precisely.
76 - 84 Understands demanding texts, recognizes implicit meaning. Can express fluently and spontaneously without searching for expressions. Produces clear, detailed text with controlled structure.
59 - 75 Understands main ideas of complex texts, including technical topics. Interacts with native speakers fluently and produces detailed text on various subjects.
51 - 58 Sufficient command for familiar situations; may require repetition and make mistakes. Can handle standard spoken language and exchange factual information reliably.
43 - 50 Understands main points on familiar matters. Can produce simple connected text on familiar topics or personal interest. Can describe experiences, hopes, and opinions.
30 - 42 Understands sentences and frequent expressions related to immediate relevance. Communicates in simple routine tasks. Can describe background and immediate environment.
10 - 29 Understands and uses basic everyday expressions. Can introduce self and others, ask and answer simple questions, and interact slowly with help from others.
PTE results are widely recognized for study abroad purposes and demonstrate English proficiency across academic and professional contexts.
